Reef Encounters is a full-service aquarium design and maintenance company. Founded in 1985, Reef Encounters continues to be a family owned and operated business. Senior Aquarist Dan Thornton purchased the business in 2004. Dan earned his B.S. in Fisheries Biology and Aquarium Science from Humboldt State University in California. After college Dan
moved to Denver where he served his internship at the Denver Zoo in the aquatic center while working full time for Reef Encounters. Dan grew up in Bend, Oregon, is an avid outdoorsman and ... he loves fish!
Serving the greater Denver, CO area, Reef Encounters is dedicated to providing the personalized service and professional quality care our clients require for their freshwater and saltwater aquariums, fish and supplies. We honor protecting reefs and tropical fish and purchase from companies that practice sustainable captures from regions that are available. In addition, we purchase captive bred marine fish and corals when available.
